Our roots

Family business in the Kufsteinerland

It all began with our grandparents Paula and Sepp Dresch in the 1950 years. After the death of our great-grandfather, the two initially acted as managing directors at Gasthaus Schachner in Erl/Dorf, which soon became the property of Sepp's brother. Our grandma and grandpa then spent the summer months in the alpine inn “Köndlötz” on Erlerberg, the former home of our grandfather.

In addition, the foundation stone has already been laid for a Dresch family grocery store, as our grandpa bought a building plot in Erl. A single-family house with a small self-service shop was built on this. Unfortunately, the Gasthaus am Erlerberg had to be sold to the Fürstenfeldbruck district office in subsequent years, as it no longer generated any income. With the proceeds, however, it was finally possible to buy another plot of land in 1968 and build a larger residential building two years later. In addition to the self-service supermarket — one of the first of its kind, by the way — a bowling alley, a small cellar bar and, by 1974, also a snack bar were set up.

Our grandparents Paula and Sepp were not only very enterprising, but also family people. They gave birth to five children. The youngest daughter, our mom Martina, took over the business with her husband Karl in 1991. This paved the way for the current hospitality business. The supermarket was closed and gradually the snack bar became a restaurant and finally a hotel. From then on, the main focus was on the inn and room rental.

Since 2015, we daughters Lisa, Vicky and Isi, including our men, have also been involved in the family business. Together, we contribute all our skills to make Hotel and Restaurant Dresch what it is: a place where you feel at home and can enjoy extraordinary dishes with regional food. A place to relax and unwind. A place of hospitality where everyone can enjoy themselves in a family atmosphere.

Martina & Karl
our parents

As the youngest daughter of five children, our mother Martina took over the parents' business at just 22 years of age. Karl, our dad, was already at her side in 1991, who stepped in when our grandma broke her hand and failed in the kitchen. From then on, he taught himself everything there is to know about a restaurant kitchen and was awarded with a toque for the first time in 2013. Together, the two are not only the bosses in threshing but above all role models and supports for their daughters and sons-in-law, who all work in the company or help out. They became grandparents for the first time in 2020 and are happy that the family is constantly growing.

Lisa & Thomas
Our oldest

After completing the tourism school in St. Johann, the eldest of the three daughters, Lisa, actually wanted to work in a hotel in Switzerland. Fortunately for us, she ultimately decided against going abroad and opting for the Dresch. She has been an integral part of the Dresch team since 2013. Her boyfriend Thomas travels a lot as an ÖSV trainer, but uses his facility knowledge to help us with various janitorial tasks whenever possible. In 2022, little Amalia was born, who smiles right into the hearts of our guests with her enchanting charm.

Victoria & Roland
Our middle

Vicky also attended the tourism school in St. Johann and also completed her training as a travel agent specialist. At Dresch, she takes care of all tasks in the office. In addition to bookkeeping, she also has the purchase of goods under control. But she can also be found regularly in the kitchen with our dad. Vicky's husband Roland works as a medical sports scientist and helps us with whenever we need him. Their children Lian and Mia ensure that they don't get bored. They can be found again and again in Dresch, where Lian, among other things, is already helping grandpa in the kitchen.

Isabella & Christopher
Our youngest

After completing her tourism school, Isabella decided to complete the HTL for graphic and communication design. After completing her training in 2015, she worked in the kitchen of the Dresch restaurant for three years. Since then, she has worked for an design agency in Kufstein and supports the family business in all marketing and design matters. She also likes to help out in the kitchen or jump in when needed elsewhere in the hotel. Her boyfriend Christopher works as an industrial engineer and is a passionate amateur chef. He is also often found at Karl's side in the restaurant kitchen and helps with janitorial work in and around the hotel.

The story
From threshing
