In Erl, the oldest Passion Plays in German-speaking countries are performed every six years. More than 40,000 visitors attend the screenings about the suffering and death of Jesus of Nazareth in each of these years. There are around 600 people on stage and many of them are residents of Erl. From children to grandparents, everything is represented to participate in this traditional production.
